What I Believe
A. Scott is the pen name of an American writer of short stories and fiction. “As Close to the Truth as I Can Get” is the author’s first novel. A former journalist and public relations executive, the author writes about moral dilemmas, life struggles, and roads taken and not taken.
The author believes the written word should express our deepest thoughts and highest aspirations and agrees with Mary Karr who once said, “Writing is painful—it’s ‘fun’ only for novices, the very young, and hacks. Other than a few instances of luck, good work only comes through revision, and the best revisers often have reading habits that stretch back before the current age, which lends them a sense of history and raises their standards for quality.”
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, A. Scott grew up in South Texas and now resides in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
